Dartronics‘ history begins with our president and founder, Kenneth A. Darrow. Born in Elmira, New York, Ken is the oldest of four children. Even as a young child Ken had an insatiable curiosity for how things worked; he would dismantle his toys to learn how to reassemble them. By the time he was a teenager, Ken had escalated to rebuilding car engines.
Years later, Ken received an A.A.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Morris County Community College. And by 1987, Kenneth was in charge of the service department for Closure Systems Inc — a New Jersey distributor company of packaging materials and machinery. After 9 years of Ken noticing missed business opportunities with Closure’s customers, he left to start his own company called “Dartronics“ in 1996.
All of the loyal customers Ken acquired over the years followed Dartronics to its basement office. One of those clients asked him to find him a machine that fed legal documents to serialize with a printer. Nothing existed during that time, so in three short months, Ken built it himself and sold three machines to the client for $50,000 each.
24 years later, Dartronics’ history of innovative customer service helped it name itself in the packaging & manufacturing industry. Ken evolved the premise of his former employers by building more than just a distributor company, but a service and solutions-based business, with a strong team, mostly comprised of engineers and technicians.
